Human escalation
Lodgey is designed to handle the full preparation workflow autonomously. But it knows when to stop and involve you — or suggest you involve a professional.
How Lodgey escalates
Section titled “How Lodgey escalates”Asks you before acting
Section titled “Asks you before acting”Lodgey presents structured choices at every decision point. It won’t silently make assumptions. If there’s ambiguity — which property, which financial year, which loan — it asks.
For complex scenarios with multiple interpretations, Lodgey explains each option and lets you choose:
I found two properties in your documents:1. 15 Maple Street, Richmond (sold)2. 22 Oak Avenue, Pakenham (current rental)
Which property does this loan statement relate to?Flags uncertainty
Section titled “Flags uncertainty”When Lodgey isn’t confident in a figure or interpretation, it explicitly marks it:
- Evidence is tagged as estimated rather than confirmed
- Chat messages flag uncertainty: “I’m estimating the insurance at $1,800 based on your email — please confirm when you find the actual renewal notice.”
- The gap analysis distinguishes between “have an estimate” and “have nothing”
Suggests professional help
Section titled “Suggests professional help”Lodgey will recommend involving a tax professional when it encounters:
- Situations outside its scope (international income, complex trusts, SMSF compliance)
- ATO disputes or audit correspondence
- Transactions where the tax treatment is genuinely ambiguous
- Numbers that don’t reconcile after multiple attempts
The recommendation is explicit:
“This transaction involves a mixed-purpose loan with a redraw used for both personal and investment purposes. I can estimate the deductible portion, but I’d recommend confirming the split with your accountant before lodging.”
Getting human help
Section titled “Getting human help”Feedback
Section titled “Feedback”Click your avatar → Feedback to report issues, request features, or ask for help. Select a topic:
- Troubleshooting — something isn’t working
- Feature request — something you wish Lodgey could do
- Bug report — incorrect behaviour or calculation errors
- General feedback — anything else
Corrections
Section titled “Corrections”If Lodgey gets something wrong, just tell it:
That's not right — the rent is $480/week, not $450.Lodgey will immediately update the situation, recalculate affected figures, and confirm the correction. It won’t argue or insist on its previous answer.
Interrupting
Section titled “Interrupting”If Lodgey is mid-process and you need it to stop or change direction, just send a new message. The agent will pause its current task and address your new instruction.
Starting over
Section titled “Starting over”If a conversation goes off track, start a new session within the same project. All your documents, evidence, and situation data are preserved — only the chat history resets. Lodgey will read the project memory and pick up where things were consistent.
