Frequently asked.
Which plan is right for me?
Free is for trying things out — one property, 15 questions a month. Advisor (Advisor) is the sweet spot for one or two properties: unlimited messages, year-round deduction scanning, and PAYG variation drafts. Portfolio (Portfolio) is for three or more properties, trusts, or SMSFs that need unlimited doc uploads and CGT modelling.
What happens when I hit the free tier cap?
You'll see a soft nudge at 80% usage and a hard stop at 100%. Your reset date is always shown — 15 new messages arrive on the 1st of the following month. If you don't want to wait, you can upgrade to Advisor ($29/mo, cancel anytime) or add your own Anthropic API key to keep going for free (you pay Anthropic directly — usually $2–$5/mo for a small portfolio).
Can Lodgey replace my accountant?
For 1–3 properties (PAYG, rental schedule, depreciation): yes, most of our Advisor users lodge through myTax without an accountant. For trusts, SMSFs, or complex CGT: use Lodgey to prep clean numbers, then take them to your tax agent for the signature.
Are my Lodgey payments tax deductible in Australia?
Yes. Tax software used for managing your rental property is a legitimate deduction on your tax return — claim it under “Management of tax affairs” (D10 on the supplementary section). Every invoice is downloadable from your billing portal, so keep them for your records.
What is BYOK (bring your own key)?
Every paid plan uses Lodgey's Anthropic key on Claude Sonnet 4.6 with no caps. If you want Claude Opus 4.6 or 4.7 — the most capable models, great for complex CGT or structuring decisions — you can plug in your own Anthropic API key. Your key, your bill. Anthropic charges you directly (roughly $2–$5/mo for a small portfolio). Lodgey never sees the usage, and you can revert to managed billing any time.
Can I switch between Advisor and Portfolio?
Yes. Stripe's Customer Portal lets you upgrade, downgrade, or cancel any time. Upgrades are prorated. Cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period — your data stays intact.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
When your paid subscription ends, your chat history, property records, and uploaded documents are deleted within 30 days. We keep them briefly so you can resubscribe and pick up where you left off — after that, everything is permanently erased. Want a copy first? Contact us via the form below and we'll send you a ZIP of every document and a PDF of your chat history before the wipe.
Where is my data stored, and does it train the AI?
Your Lodgey data — chat history, properties, uploaded documents — lives in a Neon Postgres database in Sydney (ap-southeast-2). It stays on Australian servers. Your messages are sent to Anthropic (Claude's maker) for inference; Anthropic processes that traffic in the US and EU. Under Anthropic's Commercial Terms, “Anthropic may not train models on Customer Content from Services” — so your tax questions never train the AI. We retain logs and metadata (who sent what, when, and from which IP) for 7 years to satisfy ATO record-keeping, Australian privacy obligations, and audit / reporting requirements — but we never sell data, and we never use your tax situation to train anything.
